Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga Holy place is also well-known as Vaijnath or Baidyanath. It is situated at Deogarh in the Santal Parganas region of Jharkhand. This is one of the greatly revered Jyotirlinga temples, and the devotees trust that the sincere worship of this temple relieves a person from all his doubts and miseries. People consider that one attains moksha or salvation by loving this Jyotirlinga. According to a famous legend, the demon king Ravana meditated and requested Lord Shiva to come over to Sri Lanka and make it invincible. As a form of penance, Ravana cut off nine of his heads. Shiva revived him and joined the heads to the body, like a vaidya and hence this Jyotirlinga came to be well-known as Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga .
The most ordinarily heard story is that Yogeshwari was hitched to Lord Vaidyanatha of Parali. The promising time had taken a break the marriage party came to thus they were transformed into stone statues. Yogeshwari was holding up far from Parali.
Another legend says that when the evil spirit Ravana contemplated seriously upon Lord Shiva to get aids and experienced extreme icy, warmth and downpours. Ravana offered his 10 heads one by one and Lord Shiva was satisfied by curing him with natural pharmaceuticals. Thus Lord Shiva was called as Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga.
The mountains, wildernesses and waterways here are loaded with valuable therapeutic herbs and subsequently the name ‘Vaidyanatha’.
Another legend from Shivapuran says that Markandeya who was honored with short life acquired his shelter of life at Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga from the beauty of Lord Shiva.
History and Architecture:
Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple is a stone structure encompassed by solid dividers on each of the four sides. There is an immense column outside the holy place. Inside the sanctuary there are halls and a yard. A solid wide staircase is the passage to the sanctuary called as Ghat, worked in the year 1108. The Lingam is exceptionally lovely and smooth. The Holy place is accepted to be revamped in 1706 AD by Ahalya devi Holkar. Later the court of the holy place was worked by Late Nanarao Deshpanda. The Lingam can be seen from the court itself as there are no divisions. Thus the enthusiasts can touch and perform abhisheka on the Lingam actually. It gives one a perfect delight and the vibe of vibration at this blessed holy place.
