Mansa Devi Temple is a Hindu Temple devoted to goddess Mansa Devi in the sanctified city of Haridwar in the Uttarakhand state of India. The temple is situated atop the Bilwa Parvat on the Sivalik Hills, the southernmost mountain chain of the Himalayas. The temple also famous as Bilwa Tirth is one of the Five Pilgrimages within Haridwar.

The temple is famous for being the sanctified abode of Manasa, a form of Shakti and is said to have occurred from the mind of the sage Kashyapa. Mansa is considered as the sister of the Naga Vasuki. The term Mansa means wish and it is thought that the divinity fulfils all the wishes of a sincere devotee. Believers who want their wishes to be fulfilled by Mansa tie threads to the branches of a tree situated in the temple. Once their needs are satisfied, people come back once more to the temple to untie the cotton from the tree. Mansa is also offered coconuts, fruits, garlands and incense twigs in order to appease her.

Believers who visit the temple usually like to take some Parasad for the Divinity. There’s no absence of sellers, either where you board the cable car or outdoor the temple. Bags containing a coconut and flowers sell for around 50 rupees, and it’s conceivable to buy plates of flowers for around 20 rupees. How to Reach Mansa Devi Temple

Mansa Devi Temple can be reached in two ways: on foot or by cable car. Walking needs a one and a half kilometer hike uphill. The road is sealed but the exertion can be draining in the hot months. Hence, sundry people prefer to take the cable car up, and walk down. The first cable car starts running at 7 a.m. during April to October, and 8 a.m. the rest of the year. The departure point is centrally located in town. Its only 01 km far from Haridwar Station, 215 km from Delhi, 50 km from Dehradun, 45 km from Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun,30 km from Rishikesh, 85 km from Mussoorie.
